FR TROY HAS THE FLU BUG  Thank you for your patience re: Mass cancellations. Lets fortify him with our prayers for a healthy and HOLY Holy week! Let’s also pray for more priestly vocations!

 7th and 8th Grade Science Fair!  Join us tomorrow afternoon, March 23 anytime between 12:30-2:30 in the Gym!

POPCORN ORDERS DUE TOMORROW!  Flyers came home early in the week for popcorn sales, to be enjoyed NEXT THURSDAY  during the all school read in. $1 per box and proceeds benefit the American Heritage Girls organization.

MUSIC NEWS FOR KIDS CHOIRS:  We will NOT be singing for Easter morning.  Attendance will be too low as many people are out of town on Spring Break. We WILL be singing this coming weekend (Palm Sunday) and for the older choirs (gr. 3-8) Holy Thursday.  It would be great if those who are participating in Holy Thursday could come to a joint rehearsal with the adult choir on this coming Saturday in the church at 9:30 am. Kids choir will rehearsal first and will be only there for the first hour. So pick up would be 10:30 am. This will be an amazing Holy Week and I am thrilled your beautiful singers will take part on a few of the days! ANNUAL IHM CATHOLIC BEE  Join us in the DeMazenod Room next Tuesday March 27 at 2:00 for the “all-things-Catholic” quiz bowl!  Four finalists from each grade , 5th-8th, will compete for the title of King or Queen Bee AND receive a tuition voucher for next year! 

BANDTASTIC!  Next Wednesday March 28 all Band members will have day rehearsal at Catholic Central and come back to perform that evening!

TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS  Next Thursday March 29 from 1-3 . Kids in grades 3-8 will show us their talent, by appointment. Perameters include: Not more than 10 kids in a group performance or talent. Student may participate in  up to two acts; kids must provide their own music, props costumes. Piano is available.  TALENT SHOW will take place during school hours, Friday April 13 with parents and friend invited.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION Spring Collection Results
Thanks to everyone for collecting and bringing in box tops all year!  And a special thank you to the middle school students who helped cut, sort, and count them prior to submission.  While we fell short of the $1000 goal, but another successful year nonetheless, bringing in $892.90 ($373.50 in the spring).  Awesome job!  Keep collecting this summer- this is easy money for our school!  We’ll collect again this fall. And congratulations to Mrs. Perry’s homeroom for winning the classroom collection contest! 
DIRECT YOUR DOLLARS  Keep on  Keeping those cash register receipts from all SPARTAN NASH stores ( D&W, Forest Hills Foods, Family Fare etc)  We’ll have a last call  after spring break to turn them in, and then you may start accumulating them for the fall contest! A percentage of each receipt is given to IHM from Spartan Nash! Ask your friends and family to save them as well!

HOW RESPONSIBLE IS YOUR OLDEST/ONLY CHILD? A list of important days off for the next school year should be in their back packs today and or tomorrow.

ENROLLMENTS TURNED IN LAST WEEK ARE CURRENTLY BEING PROCESSED    If your enrollment was complete, you will receive a copy of your contract and a note stating so. Enrollment packets with items missing are begin returned for you to complete. Look for the big white envelop in your oldest/only child’s back pack. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL APRIL 17 TO TURN YOURS IN. IF IT IS MISSING ITEMS, IT WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU AND YOUR ENROLLMENT FEE WILL DOUBLE.

IHM ALUM HOLD HONORS AT CATHOLIC CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. Eric R.~ Lauren M. ~Liza B.~ Abby M.~ Liza S.~and Peter H. were recently recognized as Cum Laude students, holding a GPA of 4.0 or higher. Disciples first and then (AWESOME) Diplomas!


READ ‘EM AND EAT  On the last day of school before SPRING BREAK (Thursday March 29) we’ll have an all school “read-in”  from 2:45-3:15 pm.  The IHM Groups of American Heritage Girls are selling boxes of popcorn for $1 for students to enjoy that day during the read in. Order forms coming home today–please return them by THIS Friday March 23.

TUESDAY MARCH 20 we are pleased to host author Jessica Schaub as our guest.  She will be sharing her picture book with grades 3 and younger and will be doing a presentation on her writing and publishing process to grades 4 through middle school. Extra copies of her books will be available for purchase ($5 for her short story, $8 for her picture book and $10 for one of her novels) if you want to send in money with your child or checks made out to Jessica Schaub.

SIGN UP EARLY AND OFTEN!  THE SECOND BEST SALE IS A MONTH AWAY   Those new to our fair school/parish may not know what a HUGE sale and success this is every spring. Save all your stuff, donate it that week, take a receipt for your donation to IHM SCHOOL and then shop til you drop. The selection of clothing, housewares, furniture is stellar. The BAKE SALE portion of the event is one to behold. Who knew sugar and flour could make so much money? PRAYERFULLY CONSIDER THIS NEW OPPORTUNITY   IHM Sports is seeking a new Athletic Director for the 2018-19 school year. Doesn’t necessarily need to be a current IHM parent, though all are welcome to apply. Perfect job for an empty-nester, anyone with organizational skills and a love of kids and sports and Catholic Schools.  Candidate will be able to mentor behind the  current director to get off on strong foot – to go on your own next year. Boatloads of parents to support and volunteer. Just need someone to steer the ship.

IHM DOLL TEA is this Sunday at 12:00 noon in the DeMazenod Room for all those who have RSVP’d earlier this month.  We are so sorry but the extraordinary interest in this event has left us no room to accommodate any more RSVPs or walk ins.  Thanks also to our student volunteers!  Please join us at 12:00 and look for Mrs. Tietema.

DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE~ REGISTRATION DUE SOON  The committee  is requesting registration be turned in by March 22nd. This annual event takes place on March 24 and begins at  6:15 pm in the gym. Why not make the date complete by going to the 5:15 Mass FIRST and then the dance?

MOMS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN TOOPlease join your IHM community for our annual MOTHER/SON BOWLING EVENT scheduled for Saturday, April 21 from 2:30-4:30 at Clique Lanes. The cost is $7/person. This includes shoes and two games of bowling. Food and drink are available for purchase as the lanes. Sign up sheets will be coming home this week. Space is limited so please turn in your sign up sheet early to secure your spot.

FAMILY MOVIE TIME!!  IHM’s Divine Mercy Cenacles are sponsoring a showing of the new film about St. Paul the Apostle on Palm Sunday, March 25th at 3pm.  We have rented a 96 person theater at Celebration Cinema North with an option to move to a larger one if we decide to do so by next Tuesday.  The tickets are $5/person, $10/Family.

Kindergarten Round UP!  If you haven’t reserved your spot for the morning (10 am) or afternoon session( 1:00 pm)  this Wednesday, March 14,  please do so TODAY! The round-up meeting for parents is in the DeMazenod room. Kids will meet in the kindergarten classroom. Each will last approximately an hour.  Call Mrs. Lowe in the school office         241-4633
PRESCHOOL 4’s and YOUNG 5’s and Current Kindergarteners ONLY: NO SCHOOL  this Wednesday, March 14, to accommodate the Kindergarten round-up meetings. If you need to use the Childcare in place of classes this day, please contact Mrs. Davis in advance to be sure we have room!
We still do NOT have a Fall Fundraiser chair!  Please prayerfully consider this position.  You’ll have a whole team of support and guidance.  Though the Home and School account is healthy this year, that may not always be the case!  We need to make sure there is money for future years.  Also, this is a huge social activity and provides more fun throughout the year.  It would be a shame if we went without this event next year. SUPPORT  OUR 8TH GRADERS SERVICE PROJECTS….this time its A PENNY WAR!  The classroom that collects the most pennies this week will win donuts for the whole class. Proceeds benefit the Acton Institute.

ON THAT SAME NOTE:  There are dishes, a lovely white platter, a crock pot and many serving utensils still in the teachers lounge and kitchen left from the  meals provided to the staff last week. Please come and claim them!

YOU’VE GOTTA HIT “DOWNLOAD”  In order to fill out the enrollment forms online, you must first down load them onto your device. Then fill ’em out, print ’em out and send ’em in. If you need forms because  If you send in your enrollment packet with things missing, it will be returned to you. Please keep checking your kid’s backpack. If your packet was complete, we are sending home a confirmation of that via a copy of the contract and a note saying it’s COMPLETE.

Monday March 5

TUITION ASSISTANCE  If you have not yet filled out your application for tuition assistance for the coming school year, PLEASE DO SO BY THIS FRIDAY March 9. Go online to   Families who apply will be notified before spring break if and how much financial aid they will receive for the 2018-19 School year. 
ENROLLMENT PACKETS must be turned in with all documents enclosed. We cannot accept packets with missing information. For Younger students, regarding proof of last well-child visit and immunization schedules: give us the most recent of what you have. If your child receives more shots and or has another visit after you enroll, you are asked to please forward us a copy of that as well.
MARCH IS READING MONTH Representative Afendoulis will be coming to read to 2nd and 3rd grade today ! TomorrowMarch 6, is Dress Up As Your Favorite Book Character day.  If you are not dressing up you should still plan to wear your uniform. Next week, we will be having a book swap.  You can start sending in gently used books that students will trade with a classmate. Make sure to send in your books by Tuesday, March 13.

4TH GRADE SONGFEST is this Thursday March 8. Remember to pack a disposable lunch for your 4th grader. Arrival time that evening is 6:30 at West Catholic High School and the concert starts at 7.

DISCIPLES ARE WELCOME! OPEN ENROLLMENT BEGINS TOMORROW Friday March 2 for the 2018-19 School Year! Packets with Enrollment Instructions and the Tuition Contract  are coming home with the oldest /only child in your family tomorrow. All forms can be found on-line this year. Fill them out online, print them out and return them BEFORE APRIL 17. After that date, your enrollment fee doubles for existing families.
DISCIPLES READ! IT’S “MARCH IS READING MONTH!” Let’s kick it off right with a fun/crazy socks day, in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, tomorrow March 2! Still wear your uniform but jazz things up with some outrageous socks! Calendar of events is coming home with your “reader” today!
DISCIPLES COMPETE!  The Annual Catholic Bee will be held Tuesday March 27 at 2:00 in the DeMazenod Room instead of Wednesday the 28th. Please make note of the change.
DISCIPLES PLAY! 4th GRADE BAND INSTRUMENT FITTING is scheduled for Thursday, May 3 at Catholic Central H.S. DISCIPLES PRAY! PRAYER COVERAGE REQUEST  A Strategic Planning Team has been formed to discern the course of Immaculate Heart of Mary School for the next 5 years. The team is comprised of administrators, teachers, parish staff,  parents and education professionals. While we ALL have an idea of what we’d like IHM to look like in future, Our Lord’s direction is what we seek. Would you pray for this team in your weekly Mass prayers? Knew you would! Thank you!

 DISCIPLES GOT TALENT!  Your Home and School Association is sponsoring the first ever IHM Student Talent Show. Mark your Calendars for April 13  in the GYM from 1:30-3:00pm.  Auditions will be held during the school day, March 29.   3rd-8th graders are invited to participate . Acts should be no longer than 5 minutes/with a 10 person group max (some exceptions if needed) 8th graders will emcee! Details forthcoming. Practice up!

MARCH IS READING MONTH !  Reading Activities start at the end of this week.  A calendar of events will be sent home with students.  This Friday, March 2, will be Crazy Socks Dress Up Day.  Also, orders for books from our guest author, Jessica Schaub, are due tomorrow, February 27. Send them to Mrs. Kuzma in the Library!

ONLINE REGISTRATION AND  TUITION CONTRACTS will begin THIS FRIDAY March 2nd.  Current families are asked to return them by April 17.  The Contract will come home in in white envelop with instructions re: filling out the forms online and a checklist of other items needed for what is considered a COMPLETED REGISTRATION. Once you fill out the online registration,  you’ll be asked to print it out and turn it in, along with the contract to the school office.  Hard copies of the registration  will also be available to those without printers.

IHM WOMENS BUNKO NIGHT THIS WEDNESDAY Feb 28 in the Hearts and Hands Room. It’s free. It’s fun. Bring a friend!

ANNUAL 4th-grade Diocesan Songfest is coming up March 8.  Kids will spend the day with other Catholic school 4th graders practicing the songs together and getting to know their pen pals.  Concert is at West Catholic High School that evening, arrival time 6:30. Showtime at 7!

Superintendent Dave Faber will be visiting IHM on March 14.  He will meet with the school board, teachers, parents, and staff during his visit. Parents are welcome to join him that day at 2:45 in the DeMazenod room.

CONSTRUCTION ON THE OUTDOOR PLAY AREA AT THE PRESCHOOL will begin in the upcoming weeks. The first stage is the removal of the two trees in the front.

Wednesday February 21

PreK through 8th Grade ENROLLMENT/REGISTRATION FOR THE 2018-19 IHM School year begins March 2! 
This year for clarity and ease, you’ll be asked to fill out the forms electronically and then print them out for submission in person. As a current IHM family, you’ll be given until April 17 to turn in your registration and enrollment fee. After that, the enrollment fee will double. (This deadline allows us to plan for class size and the number of classes/staff needed for the coming year.)
Now is the time, especially if you have younger ones enrolling for the first time, to collect copies of their birth certificates, baptismal certificates, immunization schedule and a copy of their last well-child visit. All will be mandatory for a complete registration.

“MARY IMMACULATE , FILL OUR SCHOOL!”  What better way to back up our prayers for a school FULL of disciples, than to share the GOOD NEWS with those considering a Catholic Education for their kids? Many many thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Lowery (John and Sandy) for “loaning us” their company’s video-tographer (Applied Imaging) to film and produce our latest marketing video. A special thanks also to Mrs. Megan Teitema for keeping it all moving towards fruition!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  for the 7th & 8th Grade IHM Science Fair coming up on Friday, March 23rd. The fair will begin at 12:45 and will run until about 2:30 PM.
Hospitality Volunteer: Anyone who is willing to be a smiling face! You will be responsible for guiding guests and judges in the right direction.
Judges: Anyone who is NOT related to an IHM 7th or 8th grader. Preferably someone with a science, engineering or math background.

CONSIDER OUR ADORATION CHAPEL AS THE PERFECT Lenten Retreat.  Make it a point to visit daily, weekly,  or maybe just a few minutes here or there. Your time before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament brings grace down upon us all. Just ask your kids. They’ve all been getting to know Him there!
