…An email from a family who moved back to the Detroit area
Dear IHM teachers and staff;
It has been a while since I have sent emails to my favorite teachers…. It really breaks my heart that I’m sending this email with tears in my eyes because I question our move daily.
Although we live closer to family I feel we left our real family and friends behind. I know when I said my goodbyes I thanked you for all you’ve done for my kids but never in a million years did I think living two hours away was so different. I’m happy to say that the schools we chose are academically excellent but they lack in Catholic identity, community and relationships. I’m sending you this email to reassure you that Immaculate Heart of Mary IS the BLEST place to be!! You all are mentioned one way or another daily with our kids and if they don’t mention it we are surely ready to speak highly of all.
Thank you for letting them be kids.
Thank you for teaching them right from wrong.
Thank you for preparing them to be good citizens.
Thank you for teaching them to pray and participate in Mass.
Thank you for teaching them the Hymns. Something that we will never forget.
Most importantly thank you for instilling the Catholic faith into our children’s minds each and every day. Teaching them that God is first and foremost.
If they don’t have faith, they have nothing!
Please take your arms and wrap them around your parish and school because there’s no place like it!!!
Hope to see you on our next visit to Grand Rapids!!
Blessings from our family to yours!
…An email to Ms. Savillo, Junior High ELA Teacher,
“Joey (Savillo), thanks for your wonderful work with Eric and the 8th grade class. We have heard and seen so many great things about your teaching style and caring attitude for the kids over the years, including our 3 older kids. IHM is blessed to have you!! ” The Murphys
…An email to Mrs. Heintz, Junior High Math Teacher,
“Emma told me she loves math! I almost cried I was so happy for her! I never thought she would EVER feel that way! She is so proud of herself. She is setting goals for her grades. She is enjoying it so much! You are a great teacher and we are sooooo blessed to have you! “ Kellee and Dave
…An email to the school staff
“My daughter lives in the Forest Hills area and her neighbor commented that it’s the end of September and her 6th grader has yet to have been assigned homework. We have a great thing going at IHM — preparing our students well for the rigors of high school.” Cheryl H
