Bell Choir

Bells have a rich history in the life of a community or church. During the Middle Ages, without clocks, peasants relied on the village bell to call the time for work, prayer, meals and to bed. It is said that a person never forgot the sound of his village bell, no matter how many years he was away from home. Bells have a way to call us into worship and liturgy.
IHM has a long tradition of handbells in liturgy. We have restarted the handbell program and plan to present music in liturgy on 3-5 Sundays each season. We will rehearse for several weeks, play in mass, take a break and then begin again and prepare for our next liturgy. If you are interested in being a part of this group, we welcome you to join us. Prior experience with bells is helpful, but not mandatory. The ability to read music is the minimum requirement for this group.
