Father's Homework
Father Troy's Homework Assignment for the Week:
5-23-10 Pentecost: Let's beg the Lord for a fresh outpouring of His Holy Spirit in every aspect of our lives!
5-16-10 Feast of the Ascension: following last weeks challenge to unify as a people, today's feast reminds us that our power comes, not from ourselves, but from God. Where is your focus?
5-9-10 Sixth Sunday of Easter: When conflicts arise between people we can choose to either separate ourselves or move closer to a resolution of our differences. What will you do?
5-2-10 Fifth Sunday of Easter: Our response to the resurrection MUST contain reconciliation which is not a single experience but a style of life. How do I allow the resurrection into this area of my life?
4-18-10 Third Sunday of Easter: Continuing to look at our response to the Resurrection, Jesus three times invites us (like Peter) to expand our response; to cast our nets to the other side.
4-11-10 Second Sunday of Easter: What is my personal response to the Resurrection?
4-4-10 Easter Sunday: How can we best show our appreciation to the Lord for His saving work?
3-28-10 Palm Sunday: Our awareness of what Jesus did for us can be seen in our gratitude and our desire to imitate him. Open your hearts to the grace of Holy Week!
3-21-10 5th Sunday of Lent: Created by Divine Love (God is love), for Divine Love, we give oursleves to various lesser loves until we meet Love who speaks, "has no one judged you?...go and sin no more." Holy Week is coming, are you ready to meet Him?
3-13-10 4th Sunday of Lent: Why are the sons not happy being with the Father?
3-8-10 3rd Sunday of Lent: Now is not the time for judgement, but repentance, the bearing of gospel fruit!
2-28-10 2nd Sunday of Lent: In the private, silence of our being, do we play the "liberal"/ "conservative" game - pitting the law and the prophets against each other at the expense of what is true/right/good in order to let ourselves off the hook?
2-21-10 1st Sunday of Lent: Lent is that time when the human will clashes with the Divine Will and we attempt to silence the Word made flesh. Listen to how your tempted in light of Jesus' trial: to focus only on material needs; to dominate others for self; to live without discretion or discernment.
2-7-10 Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Step back and review the goals you set during Advent. Make adjustments where needed but continue moving forward!
1-31-10 Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time: even after accepting our identity and mission there will be voices from within and without who will try to discourage or redirect our efforts. Be attentive to these voices this week.
1-24-10 Third Sunday in Ordinary Time: Have we accepted (internally) our mission which flows from our new identity in Christ?
1-17-10 Second Sunday in Ordinary Time: The Lord desires to turn our water into wine. Mary tells us how when she says, "do whatever he tells you."
1-10-10 The Baptism of the Lord: Consider the new identity and mission you were given in your baptism and now go public with it!
1-3-10 Epiphany of the Lord: Consider this week our own pilgrimage of faith. How does the finding of the Child lead you to open your "treasures?"
12-27-09 Feast of the Holy Family: We are invited today to follow the example of Mary and Joseph in centering our family in God and His will for our lives.
12-19-09 4th Sunday of Advent: Can we accept the fullness of God on His terms?
12-13-09 3rd Sunday of Advent: This is a week of rejoicing. God is entering our condition.
12-6-09 2nd Sunday of Advent: John the Baptist exhorts us to "prepare the way." We prepare for things differently - for this John says it's "repentance." This week look at sin and it's effect (death) and repent.
11-29-09 1st Sunday of Advent: Looking at where we want to be, set up some small, measurable, goals to help you move in that direction.
11-22-09 Christ the King: Closing out this liturgical year we need to ask "are we in a better place now than we were a year ago?" Did we progress in our spiritual life?
11-15-09 33rd week in Ordinary Time: As we celebrated the Anointing of the Sick this weekend, please continue praying for those who are ill and take some time inviting the Lord into your own particular wound and pain. Be it physical, mental or spiritual the Lord want His people free.
11-8-09 32nd week in Ordinary Time: Why do you give what you give (or don't give)? Because you "like" what's happening (or don't like) or out of gratitude for the Lord and His blessing? Will I increase a 1/2% this year?
11-1-09 All Saints: Sanctity comes when an open heart receives God's unconditional, healing love. Do YOU want to be a saint?
10-25-09 30th week in Ordinary Time: The blind man, in recognizing Jesus and His power, was not as blind and the crowd who attempted to silence him. What is it YOU want JESUS to do for you? Are we desperate enough to beg?
10-18-09 29th week in Ordinary Time: Is our drive for intimacy/friendship with God (sit at his right/left) at least equal to the ambition we have regarding other aspects of our lives (i.e. friendships, finances, status)?
10-11-09 28th week in Ordinary Time: Dare to ask Jesus the same question: "what must I do...? Dare to hear him identify for you which of your possesions has taken possesion of you.
10-4-09 27th week in Ordinary Time: When making choices in life do we consult just those around us or do we look back to "the beginning" to discover God's intention?
9-27-09 26th week in Ordinary Time:Our jealousy and envy of one another within the Church is an internal virus that slowly eats away at the untiy and peace Jesus gave us. Today he invites us to look inside ourselves, identify it and "cut it out. Better to enter into life maimed...."
9-20-09 25th week in Ordinary Time: As you are "walking along the way" with Jesus and he is talking to you about his impending death, what are you "discussing" (what is going on in your heart, mind, what occupies you)?
9-13-09 24th week in Ordinary Time: Hear Jesus asking you the following two questions and then answer Him: 1). "who do people (those you surround yourself with) say that I am?" 2). "But who do you say that I am?"
